Dear social business friends!

Unfortunately, we have an unexpected new development to share with you today. In the last weeks Prof. Yunus’ state of health, in specific his herniated disc, has deteriorated and he now requires surgery to regain his well-known strength and energy. Therefore, he is forced to decline all commitments in the upcoming weeks, including the Nobel Peace Laureate Summit and the Children Peace Prize event. To his great disappointment, Professor Yunus will therefore most likely be unable to attend the Global Social Business Summit in Berlin, which he has spent the last 9 months organizing with The Grameen Creative Lab.

If Prof. Yunus recovers well from his surgery during the days of the summit, we will try to include him via teleconferencing to share his thoughts and ideas with you. We are aware that it is not the same than seeing and meeting Prof. Yunus in person, but many of you decided to join this summit because they are enthusiastic about the idea of social business to transform the world. This has not changed. The GSBS is the leading platform for social business and we are convinced that with this year’s extensive program we will have the best and most memorable summit so far. With the Yunus Centre delegation - which has been working with Prof. Yunus for the last 40 years - our 50 outstanding speakers and participants from over 60 countries, we will create a remarkable spirit, share creative moments and trigger long-lasting impact in Berlin and beyond.

Prof. Yunus will be missed a lot during the Summit, but it is very clear to us that prioritizing Prof. Yunus’ health is the best way forward! We are confident that our strong and unique social business community will keep the show going with joy and will send a lot of positive energy and vibes from Berlin to Prof. Yunus. More than ever, Prof. Yunus and the organizing team now need your support and contribution during the summit. Bring a friend to show your solidarity and help the social business movement grow!

As a personal message from Prof. Yunus to all of you:

“It was not easy for me to cancel my participation in my own Global Social Business Summit in Berlin and the Social Business Academia Conference where Hans and myself have invited hundreds of people all around the world to gather. But besides this, there should be no time for disappointment, because I am more than convinced that you will all make this GSBS a remarkable gathering. I am already looking forward to hearing about all the great things that will happen in Berlin! Enjoy the Summit!“

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Berlin for the greatest of all Summits!
